Horses in Training
Bill
Ratcliffe - Trainer (Flat & National Hunt)
Bill has been involved with horses most of his life. He held an
amateur flat riders permit. He spent many years working with Stan
Moore, firstly near Andover and then when Stan moved to Parsonage
Farm Racing Stables at East Garston near Lambourn. Bill's father
had horses in training with Stan for many years. Stan has now moved
to the historic Uplands Stables in Lambourn.

Bill then worked as Assistant
to Barry Hills at Faringdon Place in Lambourn. This was invaluable
experience working in a large top class yard with all the
challenges and demands it provided. Bill was Assistant Trainer,
and working with the Head Lads he was responsible for a barn
of 44 horses including Group horses like Distant Music, Munir
and Chancellor. |
'After 2 years in Ireland Bill returned to Lambourn to take out his licence. Upshire Stables was a small shared starter yard with no accommodation on site and they quickly outgrew the yard. Months later in July 2006 Bill made the big move North to Bolton Hall Racing Stables, North Yorkshire only weeks after having his first winner at Pontefract.

My
Sharp Indian & My Kaiser Chief in training |
Bill has a great deal of experience, a will to win and a growing
reputation for success. Already his winners tally is into double
figures and prize money earned is heading for 6 figures. As of today
(or at time of print or as of today 14th March2008), from his last
25 runners he has had 5 winners, x3 2nds and x3 3rds. Bills wife,
Elena is also an important cog in the wheel and both Bill and Elena
take great pride in their operation and both work hands on with
the horses. Members of Camela Racing will enjoy organised visits
to Bolton Hall Racing Stables and spend time with the Trainer and
his team soaking up the atmosphere of their beauiful training yard.
Bill already has plans to ensure he builds on the success of last
year and with recent winners already on the board before the turf
season starts its already looking good.
Horses currently in training with Bill are 'My Kaiser
Chief' and 'Sharp Indian'.

My
Kaiser Chief
This powerful colt showed real promise on his first two
runs which were both maidens at Thirsk. He finished 4th on
both runs and got into the prize money even though the ground
was probably too firm for him.
More recently he ran twice at Southwell and was a little
disappointing but showed signs of being a bit coltish. He
has since been gelded and I am sure he will build on his early
promise back on turf with some cut in the ground. |

Sharp
Indian
This is a strong athletic daughter of Gorse. She has developed
nicely and will run early in 2008. We feel she ideally wants
ground with cut. She may debut on All weather and we have
high hopes for her on turf in the Spring. |
We have some shares remaining on both these horses,
and on other horses. Please contact us
to arrange to view any of our horses.

Presentation for John Watson when
My Kaiser Chief wins at Thirsk, 18/04/08 |
My Kaiser Chief showed us what we knew he was capable of
when winning his maiden at Thirsk on Friday 18th April.
This was his first run back on turf as a 3yo and he appreciated
the step up to 6f winning nicely by 2 lengths after meeting
trouble in running.
He has had a few niggley problems which we have sorted out
now and was gelded over the Winter and has settled him down
and we hope he will progress through the season.
